I was nick-named "Mycochef" by a late and dear mushrooming buddy and have been a guest mushroom chef and foray leader at many, many, fungal gatherings from Alaska to the Queen Charlotte Islands, all over Mexico, down into Costa Rica, from San Diego to Marin County, at the Brietenbush mushroom gathering, been a guest chef at Telluride Mushroom Festival, and a foray leader and chef for the Mycological Society of San Francisco. I've led coastal and Sierra forays for San Francisco- based "Foragesf."
I am an active member of the board and for years was the executive chef of the Sonoma county Mushroom Association ( SOMA) and now their current Foray Coordinator. I have picked commercially and have first-hand knowledge of that hunting and gathering community and its culture. I have an extensive background in many things wild mushroom: foraging, identification, and preparation. I write a monthly column for the "SOMA News" and have been a food and mushroom columnist with several other publications for over 20 years.
With 40 years underneath my belt, if there are mushrooms out there I'll find them!
